Alex Koglin, PhD

Nature’s Toolbox Co-Founder

Alex Koglin received his PhD in biophysical chemistry from the University in Frankfurt/ Main, Germany. He was a Postdoc at the Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, and an Oppenheimer Fellow at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM.

Alex left LANL in 2015 to launch Nature’s Toolbox (NTx) with his partner, Michael Humbert. He helped lead this company from a single lab at the Santa Fe Community College to a 25,000 sqft facility with ~60 employees in Rio Rancho. Koglin not only led the research objectives of the new company, but also managed the successful completion of three funding rounds totaling over $61M USD, as well as obtaining additional funding support from The Center for the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) and The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). As developments at NTx progressed, Koglin went on to establish research partnership agreements with some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.
