Irene Gray, MPA
Communications & Industry Outreach Manager
Irene Gray holds a BA in English Literature with a minor in Communications from the University of California at Santa Cruz, as well as an MPA in Health Policy from The University of New Mexico. With over 20 years of experience in fundraising, communications, and marketing in the nonprofit and higher education sectors, Irene excels in crafting messages that bridge community to purpose.
From providing statewide professional development opportunities for students to leading communications efforts for UNM’s largest college—resulting in a 21% increase in engagement—Irene finds purpose in giving back to her community by elevating the important work others are doing. Her career has long centered on the impact of the sciences on health outcomes, a focus that strongly informs and supports her role at the NMBSA.
Irene is a member of the American Marketing Association and Pi Alpha Alpha, the Public Administration Honor Society. Most proudly, she is an honorary member of the Pharmacy Leadership Society, Phi Lambda Sigma—an honor bestowed by students at the UNM College of Pharmacy.
Outside of work, Irene serves as the recharter and fundraising chair for her son’s Boy Scout troop. From pottery to hiking, she is always seeking new ways to stretch her creative and physical muscles.
