Full Circle Mushrooms is a specialty mushroom farm located just outside of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Our Woman-owned company grows 6+ Gourmet and medicinal varieties using sustainable agricultural techniques. We supply regional chefs, CSA’s, schools and senior centers with high quality mushrooms while regenerating local soil through the addition of our spent mushroom substrate.
E-Commerce Systems & Product Commercialization Intern
As we expand into a new manufacturing facility, our team is developing a line of mushroom powders, extracts, and other functional mushroom products. We are seeking a motivated intern interested in food systems, entrepreneurship, and digital commerce to help research and design the operational systems needed to support our upcoming online store.
This internship offers hands-on exposure to food product commercialization, sustainable agriculture, and the development of e-commerce systems in a growing specialty food company.
- Learn the overall concept of the company, including the Full Circle Mushrooms brand, customer base, product vision, and sustainable agriculture mission.
- Conduct research on e-commerce platforms and best practices for online stores selling specialty food and mushroom-based products.
- Analyze systems needed to support an online store, including product catalog structure, inventory tracking, order fulfillment, and customer communication workflows.
- Work with leadership, manufacturing, and sales/marketing teams to understand how product development, packaging, and market positioning influence e-commerce operations.
- Research industry trends in functional mushroom products, including powders, extracts, and value-added mushroom foods.
- Develop recommendations for digital storefront organization, product descriptions, and customer education materials.
- Assist in documenting proposed operational workflows for online store management, including order processing and performance reporting systems.
- Complete a designated capstone project focused on designing an operational blueprint for launching Full Circle Mushrooms’ online store.
- Present research findings, proposed systems, and recommendations to company leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
Work Hours
Interns are expected to work approximately 20 hours per week on-site at the Full Circle Mushrooms facility. Work schedules will be coordinated with the supervising mentor to ensure consistent learning opportunities and project progress. Farm staff typically work between the hours of 8am- 5pm

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
- Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, Food Systems, Marketing, Sustainability, Agricultural Economics, or a related field
- Interest in food products, sustainable agriculture, or consumer packaged goods
- Basic familiarity with digital tools, spreadsheets, or research methods preferred
- Prior experience with e-commerce platforms, small business operations, or food product development is a plus but not required
Learning Objectives
During this internship, the student will gain practical experience in:
- Understanding how food products are developed, manufactured, and prepared for commercialization
- Analyzing and designing operational systems required for launching an e-commerce business

Additional Requirements
This internship will be conducted on-site at the Full Circle Mushrooms facility to allow the intern to observe manufacturing operations and collaborate with leadership, sales, and marketing teams. The company will provide mentorship, supervision, and regular feedback throughout the internship to support the student’s learning objectives.
Operations Intern (Bioscience)
We are seeking a motivated Operations Intern to support day-to-day farm operations. This role is ideal for someone interested in agriculture, food systems, mycology, or small business operations. The intern will gain hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation, production workflows, farm logistics, and developing new growing techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn mushroom cultivation techniques involved in inoculation, incubation, fruiting, and harvesting
- Assist in the development of new cultivation processes for new mushroom varieties (Cordyceps)
- Analyze and track crop yields
- Analyze the application of spent-mushroom compost
- Study and document the effects of different environmental pressures on fruiting development.
- Monitor grow rooms and record temperature, humidity, and production data
- Participate in facility improvements
- Help document processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
Learning Opportunities
Interns will gain experience in:

Qualifications

Preferred but not required:
